The European Coding Initiative was established to get people interested in coding and computer science. all you need is {C<3DE} can be seen as one as just one part of a broader action among European policymakers to address the shortage of young people choosing to study STEM subjects – science, technology, engineering, mathematics.

SAP, one of Europe's leading enterprise software providers, and also a partner of the European Coding Initiative, is currently running a survey to gauge just how young people feel about STEM subjects. The survey aims to get the perspective of young people (secondary school pupils, university students, young professionals) to form the basis of a government-industry project on STEM education.
