Europe Code Week 2015 is approaching fast! With the aim to bring together organisations and individual coders from across Europe and to encourage people to try out coding, the campaign promises a lot of fun events in the week 10-18 October.
When we think about software, we often think of programmes for sending email or surfing the Internet. But software is everywhere! It's in many of our household appliances and is used to manufacture many of the products that we use every day. If you enjoy using technology, you will probably enjoy developing a computer programme yourself. If you are aged between 12 and 17, this course is for you. The course starts on 01 October 2015 09:00 (UTC) and will run until November 2015.
Africa Code Week: MOOC Teaching Programming to Young Learners is back!
After the successful June edition of Teaching Programming to Young Learners MOOC, the online course is back to unlock your creativity by introducing you to the magic of coding. The course starts on 01 October 2015 09:00 (UTC) and will run until 02 November 2015.
Europe Code Week was created with the aim of raising the profile of coding and computer science, and to motivate people of all ages and backgrounds to start coding. Each year, Code Week, taking place this year 10-18 October, sees organisations and individual coders from across Europe coming together to encourage people to get try out coding by getting involved in one of the many coding events taking place as part of the campaign.
While everyone is familiar at this stage with the World Wide Web and mobile applications, people rarely consider the networks upon which they operate. A network is the infrastructure that connects computers and devices and allows the Internet to operate; while code is how we create fun and interesting things online, the network is the foundation upon which websites and apps are built.
Big data is everywhere – every day, terabytes upon terabytes of new data is generated by every digital device or social media exchange. The growth of big data has also given rise to the fields of data analytics, and the job of data scientist.

European Schoolnet Academy, the first MOOC (massive open online course) platform developed exclusively for teachers, will be running an online course on developing digital skills in the classroom. The ‘Developing Digital Skills in your Classroom' course, which is free to join for all those who are interested, will explore how to develop a range of digital skills by introducing participants to a range of digital tools and resources that are freely available.

The ENABLE Hackathon aims to encourage young people to work in teams with a mentor to reflect on bullying in an environment geared to improving their online skills whilst celebrating their problem solving skills and creativity. Read More
20th ACM Annual Conference: Innovation and Technology in Computer Science Education
The conference consists of keynote lectures, paper sessions, panels, working groups, tips and much more. Working groups will discuss various issues such as computer science competencies for 21st century high school and undergraduate students or approaches to global software engineering courses. The main conference starts on Monday 6 July, 2015 and ends on Wednesday 8 July, 2015.
Digital Assembly 2015: A Digital Europe needs Digital Skills
Europe will only benefit fully from the Digital Single Market if it has a digitally skilled workforce and digitally empowered citizens. The Digital Assembly 2015 is one of the year's main events in the digital field in Europe, it brings together stakeholders that can play a key role in helping to develop a digital skills action plan for Europe.
